The Audi A8L TDI® Engines
Not just thrill & speed.
High torque output over the entire range of engine speed, along with constant power build up – makes Audi TDI engines super performers. Not just this, they are so dynamic, they let you get the maximum out of any driving terrain, without compromising on reduction in consumption and emission.
The Audi A8L TDI engines combine direct injection with turbocharging. Over the years, they have become so economical and powerful that they enabled Audi, in 2006, to become the first car maker to win the Le Mans 24 Hours with a diesel-powered race car!
A8 has an engine with the genes of a winner; with immense pulling power and the intelligent common rail technology which injects the fuel directly into the piston combustion chamber at up to 2,000 bar. This precise distribution of fuel has made TDI engines 30 percent more economical than older ones, and with more specific output. Moreover, these engines enable fuel savings and lower emissions. Such efficiency, however will not take away from your driving pleasure. With the 4.2 TDI engine, 283 kW (385 bhp) and peak torque of 850 Nm, you will accelerate to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.
